I can't seem to fine crap anywhere even around Indianapolis. Any one have an extra room they want to get rid of or know of any place where there might be availability. Not to worried about price as long as its not crazy ridiculous and really don't want to drive hours out of my way(east). Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Give it a day or two. Michigan and osu fans will be cancelling their reservations in the next day or so.

I've been calling around all week with no luck. I'm hoping it will sink in for OSU fans and that they'll start cancelling around Monday or Tuesday.

If you click on that Hampton Inn you are talking about it will tell you no avalability. I have been checking pretty much every day for a month now just to see if anything betters comes available and basically my advice if you find something jump on it! Also a lot of places are requiring a two night stay so I have found if you put in Friday and Saturday dates sometimes a few other options will show some avalability. Sorry kind of long winded but another idea might be that airBnB I have never done this but a friend of mine and his wife used it a while back and saved money by going this route. Hope this helps we need all the hawk fans in Indy we can get.

We actually booked a Hilton about 4 blocks from Lucas Oil last night. It wasn't cheap, but this isn't something we do every year. There are rooms to be had downtown if you're OK with spending a few hundred bucks. If you stay with a few friends and divide the cost, it's not that bad. You have to be persistent in checking availability, though.

A friend took care of it. He used Kayak and did it all online. He did have "silver status" with Hilton, which I suspect may have helped some. I suppose this kind of priority status might be necessary to find a room downtown at this point. Not sure. Good luck!

Keep checking intermittently and they will open. During the MSU game there was a few that opened up. Remember that while OSU and Michigan fans will be dropping, MSU fans will be buying them up quickly, particularly for Saturday.
Also, I noticed there are some hotels that won't sell just for Saturday night, but once you put in Friday and Saturday some might open up.
Also check DSM, Iowa City, Ann Arbor, Columbus, and Lansing Craigslist. OSU and Mich fans that have transferable, but non-refundable buys will be looking to dump directly.

Good point, Bread. We actually had to book two nights just to stay Saturday night. Works out to about $150 for each of us -- not too crazy for such a late date and a location just a few blocks from Lucas Oil.

Bet you are best off to call hotel directly. At worst they could put you on a wait list.

I know it's not ideal, especially for couples, and older people, but college aged people may have no problem going this route.
Airbnb.com is a site I. Which people rent out rooms in their homes/properties.
I was going to attend a concert festival in the LA area last year & found a guest home owned by an elderly couple for $60/night, whereas hotel rooms were $150+
Again, I know it's not ideal, but it sounds like it may come down to that for some people.

I've been on hotel booking sites all afternoon (Kayak, Hotels.com, Orbitz, Priceline, Travelocity) with absolutely no luck. I've tried calling 15-20 hotels as well. Anyone have success elsewhere? I'm not sure I'm comfortable staying in someone's home.

You might want to try looking online late tonight. This buddy of mine who booked our room found it around midnight last night. It may be too late now, but I suspect that fewer people are looking for rooms later at night so there might be more of a chance to snatch one up then if it becomes available.

Hyatt downtown now has rooms on there sire pricy though. I got mine a while back before it got crazy for $165

I'm seeing a couple of rooms at the Hyatt Regency for $500 per night and the Omni Severin at $400 per night. Based on 2 night stay. I'd check their websites directly.
Editing to add that I would book directly if at all possible. I have talked with many hotel managers and all have said that in an overbooking situation the last people they will walk are those who booked direct. Calling may help as well.

Hyatt does have a deal online its complicated but worth it. First u need to join gold passport it's free. Then check room availability then check the points option and it will say 8000 points so you go to buy points which with holiday bonus points you can get your 16,000 for two nights for $336.00 which is about $168 a night for Hyatt downtown not many blocks from Lucas oil. Not sure how long they will honor but available now. Also a no cancel policy I am sure.

We are staying in Brownsburg, booked it about 3-4 weeks ago and it sold out around 4-5 days after we booked.

Hyatt Place- Indianapolis Airport has a room--have to book for Friday and Saturday night at 284 per night plus tax- I could have booked it right now, so it is out there

Most hotels have available rooms but they want you to book for 2 nights. At this point it may be cheaper to book for 2 night and checkout a day early.

Correction to my previous post the booking for 2 night only seems to work for Friday and Saturday night stays. But if you do that it opens up your choices.
