Fiber Network Construction - What To Expect - Archtop Fiber (2024)

Here’s what to expect when you see us in your neighborhood.

  • 1. Before Construction

Before starting any construction, survey crews will be on foot in the neighborhood. This is how we gather important information that shapes our construction plans going forward. Once we determine the method of construction and if underground construction is necessary, we will notify 811 that we’re breaking ground and you’ll see flags and spray paint along roadways and sidewalks, and potentially even in your yard, to mark underground utilities (such as water and gas lines). We make these marks to make sure our crews can work safely and avoid any interruptions to the neighborhood utilities.

  • The neighborhood will be notified that we are working in the area and construction teams will be working in the public easem*nts on or near your property to set fiber-optic access points.

  • 3. Cable Burial

For the burial of the fiber optic cable, our team starts by exposing the existing underground utilities by digging around the locate markings. Because we cross the other utilities when we place conduits, we need to know exactly where they are located.

  • 4. Cable/Conduit Installation

Next, we install conduits and pull fiber through them. If we deploy the fiber optic cable aerially, the crews will be in bucket trucks pulling the cable from pole to pole.

  • 5. Construction Clean-up

Cleanup will take place once the installation is completed.

  • 6. Sign-up for Service

After our new fiber network has been prepared for your area, residents and businesses can sign up for our fiber Internet service. Next, we’ll schedule a date and time for fiber installation to get you all set up.
