High-octane racing, crashes, and adrenaline-pumping action - that's what Americans crave. And now, two US racing veterans, Cade Bickmore and Danny Summerhill, are joining forces with USPro crit champs Lucas Bourgoyne and Luke Fetzer to form the Cadence Cyclery p/b Waldo Racing team. This new setup promises to be a game-changer in the world of criterium racing.
The team's ambition is clear: to create a professional racing outfit that captivates fans with its high-action, intense, and thrilling races. With Summerhill's 21 top 10 finishes last year, including a stage win at the Redlands Bicycle Classic, and Bickmore's pursuit of track goals leading into 2028, the team is stacked with talent. But it's not just about the riders; the Cadence Cyclery team is investing heavily in logistics, with a 45-foot branded recreational vehicle, a 36-foot trailer, and a towed minivan, creating an '85-foot mega rig' that will be a marketing powerhouse.
Bourgoyne envisions a traveling circus of supercross meets rock and roll, engaging fans at the biggest one-day races in the US. The rig will serve as an event center, a content hub, and a cost-effective solution, eliminating the need for air travel. With eight beds inside, the team aims to redefine affordability in crit racing.
The team's debut is set for Texas at Pace Bend Weekend, followed by a national debut at the Sunny King Criterium in Anniston, Alabama, on April 11. Bourgoyne believes that criterium racing can reach new heights, comparing it to supercross or motocross, and he's determined to make it a reality. With the team's professional setup and marketing prowess, they're poised to raise the bar in the world of criterium racing.
