We are wanting to plan a trip (about a week long or so) while on maternity leave. My husband will be going and possibly some other family members to help out. My due date is April 4th and we want somewhere in the contiguous United States. Where do you recommend with an 8-week old?

I wouldn’t fly with a newborn before getting their first vaccines at least … I’d pick a fun vaca destination you can drive to.

Depending on where you live I’d find a nice hotel within a few hours that has some nice activities you enjoy. As a first time mom, at 8 weeks postpartum, I was still bleeding, my daughter was having weight gaining issues and lactation appointments twice a week and I was triple feeding, and we were just starting to get 3-4 hour stretches of sleep and I was dead tired. Also, she absolutely hated the car seat and screamed constantly in it. As a second time mom, I travelled 14 days postpartum to my parents house for my fils funeral and we were there for almost a month (while coming back for one doctor visit), he was sleeping big chunks (including in the car), gaining weight, and I was barely bleeding. I share those experiences because I never would have expected two very different experiences, or how hard my first time around postpartum was. It’s fun to have a getaway to look forward to though!
