A Lot or a Little?
What you will—and won't—find in this app.
-
Educational Value
a little
Kids will explore all sorts of preschool learning content, including numbers and letters, spelling, memory games, jigsaw puzzles, sorting, shapes, and colors. No logical progression of skills.
-
Diverse Representations
very little
In games with human characters or avatar choices, there's often some variability of skin color. And both men and women are represented in a variety of careers. On the other hand, there's some gender stereotyping in the salon game, which offers only female avatar choices.

-
Ease of Play
some
With so many different games and activities, young kids may have trouble switching gears. Some games have better tutorials or feedback than others. Hints aren't always available when they should (e.g., in the puzzle activities).
-
Violence & Scariness
very little
No explicit violence, but one activity involves "helping" the doctor by injecting a needle into a patient. Another has kids helping a police officer by compiling a sketch of a suspect.

Sex, Romance & Nudity
very little
There is some tight/clingy clothing, especially in the Pixie Dust Spa and Salon.

-
Products & Purchases
very little
At least one of the activities involves saving up coins from games to purchase virtual items.
-
Drinking, Drugs & Smoking
very little
A couple of activities require giving medical care (acting as a vet, helping a doctor). In some cases, kids are tasked with giving medicine using a syringe and in other forms.

Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Kiddopia - ABC Toddler Games is a collection of games that touch on a variety of early learning and free play themes. Subscriptions start at $7.99 per month, or you can subscribe for a year for $64.99. A free seven-day trial is available. Despite the name, the activities in this game target a wide range of ages; some are geared toward toddlers and preschoolers with nursery rhymes, very simple puzzles, and alphabet games, while others appeal to a slightly older crowd with addition, subtraction, spelling, and so on. Since parents can't turn specific activities on or off, this may be a challenge for little ones who find themselves over their heads. The characters are mostly diverse in terms of race/ethnicity and gender. Some content may be out of the scope of what parents want/expect for their children, such as knowing what the police use a taser for. Read the developer's privacy policy for details on how your (or your kids') information is collected, used, and shared and any choices you may have in the matter, and note that privacy policies and terms of service frequently change.
What’s It About?
KIDDOPIA - ABC TODDLER GAMES is a collection of games and activities designed to entertain and educate kids. Kids swipe left or right to choose a game icon that interests them. There are educational videos for little kids, animated jigsaw puzzles, and animal games that encourage nurturing (feeding, medical care, grooming), as well as more academic pursuits (letters, spelling, etc.). By helping doctors, mechanics, and police officers in the Community Helpers game, kids can simulate real life. They can whip up their favorite foods in the Junior Chef's Cafe and pamper guests at the Pixie Dust Spa and Salon (hair, makeup, nails, etc.). Math Whiz and Lingo Land have a range of early math and literacy skills activities, including counting, sorting, colors, shapes, and letters. And you never quite know what you'll find in Alex the Explorer (in one game, we helped him replace some light bulbs). There are also some augmented reality activities like decorating a Christmas tree and caring for a puppy.
