Kamaru Usman's Take on UFC's White House Card: Too Many Title Fights? (2026)

Get ready for a heated debate, because Kamaru Usman has some strong opinions about the upcoming UFC White House card!

Usman is cautioning against the idea of cramming too many title fights into one event, and he's got a point. While the proposed June 14th event promises to be a historic spectacle, with President Trump suggesting as many as eight or nine championship fights, Usman believes this could be a recipe for disaster.

In a recent podcast with co-host Henry Cejudo, Usman explained his concerns. He highlighted that the event is likely to be closed to the public, which already adds an asterisk to its legacy. But the real issue, according to Usman, is the potential for back-to-back five-round title fights.

"Who wants to watch seven title fights back-to-back?" Usman asks. "What if a few of them are boring?"

And here's where it gets controversial...

Usman and Cejudo believe that the UFC's strategy of limiting major events to two title fights is a wise one. They argue that some of the promotion's most dominant champions, like Georges St-Pierre and Jon Jones, have faced criticism for forgettable title defenses.

Cejudo suggests that a mix of title fights and standard three-round matchups, guaranteed to deliver action, would be the best formula for success. He proposes fights like Israel Adesanya vs. Kelvin Gastelum, which could be a Fight of the Year contender.

"You've got to put the best performers there, not necessarily the champions," Cejudo says. "Champions aren't always the best entertainers."

No official bouts have been announced yet, but marquee names like Jones and Conor McGregor have expressed interest. Usman hopes the lineup leans more towards contender fights, where fighters are willing to take risks rather than strategically retaining their titles.

"We want to see guys who are willing to go all out," Usman says. "Champions play it safe, and that's not what makes for an exciting fight."

And this is the part most people miss...

Dana White, the UFC president, has a close relationship with President Trump, and Usman believes he'll put on a show that pleases the fans.

"Dana White knows how to run a show, and he understands that seven or eight title fights on one card is excessive," Usman says. "What if they're all boring? I'd be walking out by the fourth fight!"

So, what do you think? Should the UFC White House card be packed with title fights, or is Usman right in calling for a more balanced approach? Let us know in the comments!

FINAL THOUGHTS:
I agree with Usman - while it's tempting to load up the White House card with title fights, it could backfire. With the current roster of champions, having more than four title fights could drag, especially if a few of them are less than thrilling. I'd suggest a mix of title fights and crowd-pleasing matchups, with a focus on fighters who can get the crowd chanting.
