What is the purpose of the rescue agent Datto? ›

The feature creates a new backup agent on the Protect tab of the Datto appliance's GUI and writes all of the Source Agent's configurations and data changes to automatic incremental snapshots. The agent will continue to back itself up until you restore the production machine or its replacement.

To remove the Rescue Agent, navigate to the Protect Tab. If you archived the agent first, you'll need to click Show Archived to see your archived agents. Click Remove Rescue Agent.

Datto is an image-based backup system, so the Datto SIRIS will back up the OS, applications, databases, files and folders. The general rule is to size the SIRIS on a 2.5 to 1 basis, of the data used.

If local verification says there are errors on a volume, it means there were issues found when testing the filesystem of the backup, such as corruption or missing data. IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) is a set of computer interface specifications that allows for out-of-band management of computers.

The Datto RMM Agent is a lightweight software program installed on a device that supports Agent installation. The Agent gathers up-to-date information about the device's health and status and communicates it to the Datto RMM web interface.

Navigate to Start > Control Panel > Apps & Features. Select the Datto RMM application and click Uninstall. The application will disappear from the list of programs. The Agent has now been fully removed from your device, and you can reinstall it.

A dialog box will appear with the implications of removing an agent from the device. DELETING AN AGENT FROM THE DEVICE WILL REMOVE THE AGENT LOCALLY AND IN THE CLOUD. THIS PROCESS IS IRREVERSIBLE! YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PERFORM FILE RESTORES, VIRTUALIZATIONS OR ANY OTHER RECOVERY METHOD!

Click the Devices tab. Select the device(s) you would like to delete. Click the Delete device(s) icon from the Action bar. In the dialog box, enter the number of devices you wish to delete.

How often does Datto check in? ›

A device should check in with Datto's servers approximately every ten minutes, and should always check in immediately after an initial boot or reboot.

Screenshot Verification confirms that your Datto device's backups are healthy and working. This feature automatically builds and boots virtual machines from preexisting backups and performs context-sensitive tests against the virtual machine's output to evaluate a pass or fail state.

Remote access via the Datto Partner Portal

Navigate to https://portal.dattobackup.com, and log in to your account. Click the Status tab, and then select BCDR Status from the drop-down menu. Look for your appliance's name. You can also search for it by using the search bar, as shown in Figure 1.
