On your keyboard, press Windows + Alt + N for each Quick Note that you'd like to create.

You can create a note from any Outlook folder by pressing Ctrl+Shift+N. Type the text in the note. You can leave the note open while you work, and drag it to any location on your screen for easier viewing. in the upper-left corner of the note window, and then click Save & Close.

With OneNote, take notes the way you want. You can type notes, write notes, convert handwritten notes to text, and even record audio notes.

We recently announced the availability of the OneNote app on Windows in the Microsoft Store and that OneNote for Windows 10 will reach end-of-support in Oct 2025.

OneNote is a free download for all platforms. Before you can start taking notes, you need to create a new notebook if you don't already have one. OneNote's organizational structure uses paper as a metaphor. You can create as many Notebooks as you like.

OneNote for Windows 10 will reach end of support in October 2025 and will not receive new feature updates, so consider switching to the OneNote app on Windows to continue to receive new feature updates. For more details, please see: What's the difference between the OneNote versions?

Check your OneDrive folders

Sign in to your OneDrive account from the OneDrive home page or by using the OneDrive app for Windows 10. Browse through your OneDrive folders (for example, Documents or Notebooks) for any notebook files you're looking for.

OneNote is no longer installed with Windows starting from Windows 11, but is still available from Microsoft Store. In 2021, Microsoft announced that OneNote for Windows 10 would be discontinued and that they were working on migrating users and features to the desktop version.
