Morihei Ueshiba once said, “Failure is the key to success; each mistake teaches us something.” Everybody loves success yet not everybody accepts failure. My greatest achievement in life, which I want to write an essay on, is learning how to accept my failures. It is my motivation. It makes me stouter, wiser in choosing actions that I shall take, and strive more to do better in my next steps in life.

Growing up unveils me to the reality. There were times that I failed being a good student, being a good daughter, and being the best version of myself. My failure made me feel that I’m not smart enough and I’m not capable of doing things around me. It also made me feel that I’m in a shameful situation where everybody could easily judge me base on my failures. I came to a point that I feared failure and thought about how my life could possibly be if I remained being a kid without having too much pressure while taking the path to success.

Until one night, my mother and I had a little conversation while driving home. I asked my mother if have she ever dreamed about living in a fairy tale where everything is perfect. Without any hesitation, she answered me, “No.” Then that was the time that I was puzzled because I was expecting that she’ll answer me “Yes.” I asked her, “Why? Life is way easier and happier in fairy tales than living in a reality.” “Living in a fairy tale is like living a boring life. Our challenges and failures is what completes us. It feeds us with lessons that we can apply to ourselves and in daily life. It makes our life more interesting. Not because you have failed means you should give up all the other things that you dream of. Let your failures push you to become a greater person than you are today. Let the world see that no matter how many times you failed, you can always achieve the success that you want,” she answered.

That night changes the way how I define failure. Without it, we cannot have the strength and courage that we have today that keeps us going. We can achieve moral lessons through our failures. People are more interested of hearing a story of a man being able to endure the struggles during his journey and achieved success at the end of the day rather than a man that was given everything from the very beginning. And besides, “Essence before Existence.” God has planned out everything for us before we have even existed. God will never let us face pain and challenges that he knows we can’t handle.

Failure is not permanent. I perceive it as my teacher that teaches me to get right back up, keep going, and fight the obstacles that I might further face. It is part of my own story. I accepted it, I learned from it, which led me to some of my success in life. That’s the secret of every winner.

Accepting failures and mistakes that happened in my life provide happiness as I feel that I’m alive. Failure is not the end, in fact it is the first step towards the final victory. As Swami Vivekanand says “Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is achieved”.

What can be improved

The essay "Accepting Failures – My Greatest Achievement in Life" is a personal reflection on the importance of embracing failure. The author begins with a quote by Morihei Ueshiba and a statement of purpose. The introduction sets up the essay's focus and prepares the reader for the author's personal experience. The body paragraphs describe how the author initially felt about failure, how their perspective changed, and how they now see failure as a learning opportunity. The author uses a dialogue with their mother to highlight the shift in their mindset and to provide an example of someone who has already embraced the idea that failures are valuable experiences. However, the essay's language is sometimes repetitive, as the author uses similar phrases and synonyms throughout the text (e.g., "stouter" and "stronger," "failure" and "mistake"). The author could use more varied vocabulary and expressions to make the essay more engaging and to highlight the importance of embracing failure. Additionally, the essay could benefit from more specific examples of how the author's experience with failure led them to success. For example, the author could describe a specific instance where they failed, how they learned from it, and how that experience helped them achieve a specific goal. This would add more depth to the essay and make it more persuasive.Overall, the essay is well-organized, focused, and grammatically correct, with an appropriate voice. To improve the essay, the author could use more varied vocabulary and provide more specific examples.
