These teams, by combining the skills of various super-powered criminals, become incredibly dangerous. But with so much attention on the usual suspects, some truly formidable teams get overlooked. 5) The Lethal Legion: Much like the Masters of Evil, the Lethal Legion's primary goal is the destruction of the Avengers. This team has seen several iterations, each with a different leader, including Grim Reaper, Count Nefaria, Grandmaster, and Satannish. The original team was assembled by the Grim Reaper, seeking revenge for his brother Wonder Man's death. This group has come close to defeating the Avengers on multiple occasions. Key members have included Living Laser, Grey Gargoyle, Goliath, Sabretooth, Thundra, and Whirlwind. It seems as long as the Avengers exist, the Lethal Legion will continue to rise.
4) The S-Men: Created by the Red Skull, the S-Men are the antithesis of the X-Men's mission. Their sole purpose is to eradicate mutantkind. The Red Skull, fueled by the crimes committed by mutants, used science and magic to grant superpowers to his team. The S-Men's roster included Dancing Water, Insect, Living Wind, and Dangerous Jinn. Red Skull even stole Professor X's corpse to gain telepathic abilities. This team posed a significant threat to the Avengers Unity Division, stoking the flames of hatred against mutants.
3) Goblin Nation: New York City is a hotbed for Goblin-themed villains. Norman Osborn, the original Green Goblin, formed the Goblin Nation, with himself as the Goblin King. His goal was to counter the brutal methods of the Superior Spider-Man (Doctor Octopus in Peter Parker's body). The Goblin Nation attracted numerous villains, including Goblin Knight, Menace, Tiger Shark, 8-Ball, and Melter, along with many low-level criminals equipped with Goblin gear. The Goblin Nation proved so dangerous that Doctor Octopus realized he couldn't defeat them, leading him to relinquish control of Peter Parker's body.
2) U-Foes: The U-Foes are a persistent yet underrated threat to the Hulk. They're essentially an evil version of the Fantastic Four. Initially, they were astronauts who attempted to replicate the mission that gave the Fantastic Four their powers. The mission succeeded, transforming the astronauts into Vector, X-Ray, Vapor, and Ironclad. Unlike other Hulk villains, the U-Foes possess a diverse range of abilities. Vector can repel and attract any matter, X-Ray fires radiation blasts, Vapor can transform into any gas, and Ironclad has a metallic body. Their impressive powers and teamwork make them a serious threat.
1) Hellions: While Professor X created his school to train young mutants to be heroes, the Hellfire Club's White Queen, Emma Frost, established the Massachusetts Academy to train young mutants to become villains, known as the Hellions. The original Hellions were formed in response to Professor X creating the New Mutants. The first members included Empath, Catseye, Thunderbird, Jetstream, Roulette, and Tarot. The Hellions have appeared in various incarnations, often clashing with various X-Teams. Like many mutant villains, they've worked both for and against the X-Men.
