Methodology
The first step was to search for bachelor’s degrees in psychology through the College Navigator database, a helpful tool that can be found on the National Center for Education Statistics website. It’s free to use and provides users with accurate and up-to-date information. From that initial list we narrowed it down to schools with a total tuition rate of $15,000 or less to fill our ranking the most affordable colleges for psychology degrees.
This list has two important factors that were considered from the NCES website: tuition and student: faculty ratio. Tuition is generally the most important factor for students interested in an affordable education. Student: faculty ratio also played a role because most students report higher satisfaction and higher retention rates when in schools with smaller class sizes. This is how points were awarded based on these factors:
